McCarthy Tétrault Named One of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for 10th Consecutive Year

McCarthy Tétrault has been named one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for the tenth consecutive year. This recognition reflects the Firm’s ongoing commitment to build a workplace where everyone is treated fairly and respectfully, has equal access to opportunities and resources, and can bring their authentic selves to work.

“We are humbled to have been named one of Canada’s Best Diversity Employers for a tenth year in a row,” said Dave Leonard, CEO of McCarthy Tétrault. “I am also extremely proud of the work that our Inclusion Now office and Firm members are doing every day to move the dial on equity, diversity and inclusion in the legal profession and the communities we serve. Our focus on EDI is not only a key Firm priority, it’s an investment — in our people, clients and communities — which our Firm and our members actively support through our Inclusion Now Action Groups, internal and external programs, and pro bono and volunteer initiatives. This honour would not be possible without their support.”

Launched in 2019, the Firm’s award-winning Inclusion Now program informs every aspect of the Firm and is dedicated to fostering diversity, inclusion and corporate social responsibility in support of its members and the legal profession as well as the broader community. The Firm recently welcomed a new Chief Inclusion Officer, Charlene Theodore, who oversees the program and implementation of its many EDI initiatives.

Through Inclusion Now, the Firm is taking concrete steps to address inequities in the workplace, profession and community and has developed new initiatives and made further investments in internal and external programs over the past year to help foster inclusion and drive forward reconciliation, including launching its ground-breaking First Year Law Black and Indigenous Student Program.
