Al-Nawaz brings two decades of experience as a creative and formidable tax advisor and litigator. He has worked with clients in mining, retail, banking and finance, and the power sector, finding innovative ways to resolve their tax disputes.

Having extensive experience dealing with tax authorities at the audit and appeals stages, as well as dealing with the Department of Justice, Al-Nawaz is an experienced and insightful counsel whom clients can trust to achieve favourable outcomes and manage risks. He has particular expertise in income tax and GST/HST, as well as administrative and procedural matters, including protecting privilege. He has appeared before the Tax Court of Canada and Federal Court of Appeal in tax appeals, as well as the Federal Court for judicial reviews.
