To help clients navigate the complex financial services regulatory landscape, McCarthy Tétrault welcomes Senior Counsel, Sandra Mollet, and Counsel, Vanessa Johnson, to our national Business Law Group. Sandra and Vanessa deepen the firm’s full-service banking and financial services expertise in the regulatory and payments sectors.

With more than 25 years of in-house experience advising financial institutions, Sandra brings extensive expertise  advising on regulatory compliance matters in the bank and credit union space, including dealings with OSFI, OPC and other regulators. She has a deep understanding of matters relating to financial institutions regulation, privacy  and the global banking sector. Most recently, Sandra was General Counsel, Corporate Secretary and Chief Compliance Officer with a large financial institution. She also held a variety of senior roles during her 20-year career with a Tier 1 international bank, including most recently as Canadian Deputy General Counsel, Corporate Regulatory and Chief Privacy Officer. This unique, client-side perspective gives Sandra insight into the day-to-day realities and challenges facing clients in this sector.

Vanessa’s practice includes advising clients on compliance with legal and regulatory requirements related to payments and banking services. She has particular expertise in Payments Canada and Interac bylaws, rules and regulations, and other legislation, regulations and guidelines applicable to financial institutions and other participants in the Canadian payments ecosystem. Prior to joining the firm, Vanessa was Senior Legal Counsel with a large financial institution.
