McCarthy Tétrault Reinforces Environmental and Transactional Expertise with New Partner Laura Weingarden

May 29, 2023 – McCarthy Tétrault welcomes Laura Weingarden as a partner in the firm’s Business Law Group and Environmental, Regulatory and Aboriginal (ERA) Group in Toronto. An environmental transaction lawyer with cross-border expertise, Laura advises clients on a variety of technical, regulatory and contractual issues to help them navigate large, complex projects and close deals, both in Canada and around the globe.

Laura’s in-depth knowledge of the environmental sector enables her to help clients identify and pursue strategic growth opportunities, wherever their business needs take them. She provides strategic advice to private equity firms, real estate investment firms, public companies and other organizations on the environmental aspects of corporate transactions, including in relation to mergers, acquisitions, divestitures, securities, offerings, and financing and real estate transactions.

She also has in-depth insight into industry, government and Indigenous affairs, having acted for both Indigenous and non-Indigenous clients in a broad range of environmental mandates, with a focus on mining, real estate, energy and land use. Laura acts for clients across a wide range of industries and has extensive experience in supporting clients on mining projects and within the energy landscape.

“The addition of Laura to our already well-rounded team gives clients access to yet another strategic advisor who understands the industries in which they operate and the realities of their business needs,” said Éric Gosselin, partner and National Practice Group Leader of McCarthy Tétrault’s Business Law Group. “An experienced deal maker with unique expertise in environmental transaction matters, Laura will be an invaluable asset to clients.
