McCarthy Tétrault bolsters its Litigation Group in Montréal with new partner Sarah Woods

McCarthy Tétrault welcomes Sarah Woods as a partner in the firm’s Litigation Group. Based in the Montréal office, she will provide national support to clients and will reinforce McCarthy Tétrault’s multidisciplinary expertise in corporate commercial litigation. Sarah’s diverse practice and fluency in English, French and Spanish enables her to distinguish herself in representing large corporations and groups in securities litigation, construction and commercial real estate litigation, shareholder disputes and class actions.

Her leadership and legal skills combined with her impressive accomplishments have earned her the respect of the legal community at provincial and national levels. She has received numerous industry recognitions and rankings, notably from Chambers Canada, the Canadian Legal Lexpert® Directory and Benchmark Litigation, which has recognized her as one of the top 50 women in litigation in Canada since 2020.

In addition to graduating from McGill University’s transsystemic program (civil and common law), Sarah holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Queen's University. She is called to both the Québec Bar (2004) and the Law Society of Ontario (2012). Since 2005, Sarah has taught the Civil Litigation Workshop at McGill University’s Faculty of Law.

She was the Co-Chair of the American Bar Association’s Securities Litigation Sub-Committee for Canada (2015-2019). In addition, she co-chaired two editions of the American Bar Association’s National Institute on U.S.-Canadian Securities Litigation.

“Sarah’s arrival strengthens and diversifies our capabilities in corporate commercial litigation, and her experience will greatly benefit our firm and our clients. Sarah’s leadership will undoubtedly have an impact in Québec as well as at the national level,” said Steeves Bujold, partner and leader of the firm’s Litigation Group for the Québec region.

“With her innovative approach, her insightful advice and global vision, Sarah truly represents McCarthy Tétrault's values. Sarah started her career as an articling student and an associate with our firm, and it is a true pleasure to welcome her back. Her talent and experience, which has garnered her an exceptional reputation within the industry, will be a great complement to our team’s multidisciplinary expertise,” added Karl Tabbakh, Managing Partner for the Québec region.
