Schnitzer Steel Industries completes acquisition of metal recycling business from Amix Salvage & Sales

On March 10, 2011 Schnitzer Steel Industries, through a British Columbia subsidiary company, acquired the metal recycling business of Amix Salvage & Sales Ltd.  The principals of Amix Salvage & Sales Ltd. retained a minority equity interest in the new Schnitzer Steel subsidiary.

Schnitzer Steel Industries, heardquartered in Portland, Oregon, is one of the largest manufacturers and exporters of recycled ferrous metal products in North America. Its vertically integrated operating platform includes the metals recycling business as well as auto parts and steel manufacturing businesses.

McCarthy Tétrault LLP represented Schnitzer Steel Industries, the acquiror, with a team led by Brian Vick.
