Stéphane Duval is a partner in our Labour and Employment Law Group in Montréal and leader of the Immigration Law Practice.

Mr. Duval has developed an expertise in various aspects of immigration law, more specifically relating to the international mobility of workers and business people. His expertise has been recognized by his peers: he has been listed in The Best Lawyers in Canada as a leading practitioner in immigration law since 2010. He also appears in the current editions of The Canadian Legal Lexpert Directory and Chambers Canada as a leading lawyer in the area of immigration law in Canada.

Mr. Duval provides individuals, Canadian companies and multinational corporations with a wide range of legal advice, in particular regarding strategic international mobility issues, in connection with corporate restructurings, mergers and acquisitions, or to fill labour shortages. He assists his clients throughout the entire process of obtaining visas, work permits, permanent residency, and labour market opinions as well as in the event of inadmissibility for security or health reasons.

Mr. Duval is regularly asked to lecture or act as a moderator at various conferences on immigration law in Canada and abroad. He is also frequently interviewed by journalists on immigration issues.

Mr. Duval currently serves as President of the Canadian Bar Association National Immigration Law Section, and Outgoing President of the Quebec Division. 

Mr. Duval enjoys the support of a multidisciplinary team in order to provide solutions to related matters, in particular in connection with international taxation, social security coverage and pension plans.

Mr. Duval was a customs and immigration officer before completing his law studies at Université de Montréal (1996). He was called to the Québec Bar in 1997.
