Lawyer Profile Detail

Cindy Vaillancourt is a partner in our Business Law Group and specializes in environmental and regulatory law.

Ms. Vaillancourt acts on behalf of clients operating in a wide range of industrial sectors (e.g., mining, petrochemical, aeronautics, waste, pulp and paper, agribusiness) and manages numerous matters related to environmental compliance, contaminated land remediation and obtaining permits required for industrial projects in Québec, including the provincial and federal environmental assessment process. In the context of company sales or purchases, public offerings, real estate transactions and financing, she coordinates environmental due diligence and manages the contractual aspects of environmental issues.

She also has considerable expertise on climate change, especially in terms of issues related to the Quebec and Ontario greenhouse cap-and-trade system. Indeed, she is ranked in the current edition of Chambers Canada in the area of environment (« Up and Coming ») and of The Canadian Legal Lexpert as a leading lawyer in the area of environmental law.

Ms. Vaillancourt earned her master’s degree in international and transnational law (LL. M.) and her bachelor’s degree in civil law (LL. B.) from Université Laval. She was called to the Québec Bar in December 2002. Prior to joining our Montréal office in 2006, Ms. Vaillancourt was a legal and political advisor on Parliament Hill in Ottawa, notably on climate change issues.
