Thomas Courvoisier Daoust is an associate in our Immigration Group in Montreal. His practice focuses on the acquisition and retention of permanent resident status in Canada as well as on Canadian citizenship issues.

Thomas regularly advises large and medium-sized companies that wish to retain their employees by helping them obtain permanent resident status in Canada. The clients he assists operate in a wide range of economic sectors (service, industrial, natural resources) across the country. Thomas offers legal solutions that best meet their needs. He also advises permanent residents who must travel outside Canada without proof of their status and provides advice regarding loss of status issues.

Thomas also represents individuals who want to become Canadian citizens. In addition, he regularly provides legal advice with respect to the entitlement to Canadian citizenship by birth in administrative proceedings in Canada and abroad.

Prior to joining our team as an associate, Thomas worked for six years as a paralegal in our Immigration Group. In this position, he prepared applications for both temporary residence (work permits, study permits, etc.) and permanent immigration to Canada. He previously worked within the international mobility group of a foreign investment attraction agency.

Thomas completed a Bachelor of Civil Law and Juris Doctor at McGill University, where he was awarded the Caron Memorial Prize. While at university, he participated in an exchange program to study at Paris 2 Panthéon-Assas. Thomas had previously obtained a Master's degree in Political Science from McGill University and a Bachelor of International Studies from Université de Montréal.
