Aliya is an incoming third-year law student at the University of Toronto Faculty of Law. She completed her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Toronto with a double major in International Relations and Ethics, Society & Law. Throughout her undergraduate degree, Aliya was involved with various campus groups including the Hart House Social Justice Committee, the Women’s Health Collective, and the University of Toronto Pre-Law Society. Aliya also worked as a research assistant, focusing on freedom of expression and unconscionability.
While at law school, Aliya volunteers at Downtown Legal Services, a community legal aid clinic, where she represents clients in housing disputes, and serves as Co-Director of the Women’s Human Rights Resources Programme. In her free time,
Aliya enjoys watching National Ballet performances, exploring new restaurants in the city, and making craft cocktails.
