Owners of Nutriart complete acquisition of Laura Secord Company

On February 19, 2010, The Laura Secord company announced that it is being bought by Nutriart Inc. Laura Secord has been under foreign ownership since 1983, most recently in the hands of U.S. equity investors Gordon Brothers Group LLC and EG Capital Group. The move brings the historic Canadian chocolate retailer, named after a heroine of the War of 1812, back into Canadian hands after years of foreign ownership.
 
Nutriart, based in Québec, Canada, is a chocolate manufacturer owned by brothers Jean and Jacques Leclerc.
 
Laura Secord Company, with offices in Québec and Ontario, is a Canadian chocolatier, confectionery, and ice cream company that was founded in 1913.

McCarthy Tétrault LLP represented the owners of Nutriart in their acquisition of The Laura Secord Company. The team was led by Francois Amyot, and consisted of Louis-Nicolas Boulanger, Marie-Pierre Grenier, Mathieu Laflamme, and Charles-Antoine Soulière.
