Nutrinor-Gilbert Énergies renouvelables (“Nutrinor-Gilbert”) announced the acquisition of Valeco Énergie Québec Inc. from Valeco SAS and the acquisition of Plan A Infrastructure Inc.’s participation in Dune-du-Nord Wind Power L.P. (“Dune-du-Nord”), on February 12 and March 15, 2024, respectively.

The acquisitions enable Nutrinor-Gilbert to acquire the Dune-du-Nord wind farm on the Magdalen Islands, as well as a portfolio of projects at various stages of development. In operation since 2020, the Dune-du-Nord wind farm comprises two wind turbines with a total capacity of 8 megawatts. The energy produced is delivered to Hydro-Québec to supply electricity to the population, businesses and enterprises of the Magdalen Islands, helping reduce greenhouse gas emission from its thermal power plant.

Nutrinor-Gilbert is a joint venture founded in June 2023 between Nutrinor Coopérative and Gilbert Énergie Ltée with a focus on developing renewable energy projects, including wind power.

McCarthy Tétrault advised Nutrinor-Gilbert with a team led by Julie Belley Perron (Energy and Environmental) and Louis-Nicolas Boulanger that included Konstantin Sobolevski and Sonny Santos (Business).
