On October 1, 2012, Mondelez International, Inc., formerly Kraft Foods Inc., announced that it had completed the previously announced spin-off of its North American grocery business, Kraft Foods Group, Inc.

The spin-off followed a series of global transactions designed to separate the grocery and snack businesses and operations of Kraft Foods in preparation for the spin-off. The spin-off was completed through the distribution by Mondelez International of all of the outstanding shares of Kraft Foods Group common stock that it owned ratably to its shareholders. Concurrent with the spin-off, Kraft Foods Inc. changed its name to Mondelez International, Inc.

Mondelez International, headquartered in Deerfield, Illinois, is an American multinational confectionery, food and beverage conglomerate, employing around 100,000 people around the world.

Kraft Food Groups, headquartered in Northfield, Illinois, is an American grocery manufacturing and processing conglomerate.
