On January 5, 2007, BCE Inc. completed an exchange with SkyTerra Communications, Inc. of BCE’s equity interests in certain joint venture vehicles that provide satellite-based mobile communication services, for 21,393,355 shares in the capital stock of SkyTerra.

SkyTerra, formerly Mobile Satellite Ventures, is a Reston, Virginia company that develops telecommunications systems that integrate satellite and terrestrial radio communication technologies into one system.

McCarthy Tétrault LLP advised BCE with a team that was led by Rene Sorrell, and included Lorne Salzman, Federico Alasdair, and Alison Breen.
