  • representing Primaris REIT in its C$4.6 billion sale to H&R REIT by way of plan of arrangement;
  • acting for Partners REIT in the rescission of a C$90M portfolio acquisition, the first effort to unwind a previous acquisition made by a Canadian public REIT, and associated litigation;
  • leading Northwest Healthcare Properties REIT in its merger with Northwest International Healthcare Properties REIT.

We have been involved in capital raising efforts on behalf of numerous REITs and have raised in excess of $5.4 billion in debt and $1.4 billion in equity in only the past 5 years. Our experience includes:

  • representing BMO Capital Markets in arranging a C$1 billion unsecured operating credit facility for RioCan Real Estate Investment Trust, the largest unsecured operating line ever provided for a Canadian REIT;
  • acting for Slate Retail REIT in a C$46.4 million rights offering, the first to be completed by a TSX listed issuer in Canada under the new securities rules applicable to rights offerings;
  • acting for the dealers in the initial public offering of Starlight U.S. Multi-Family Core Fund; and
  • advising Summit Industrial Income REIT in multiple Bought Deal Equity Offerings.
