University of Ottawa

Yuan is currently studying at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Law and expects to complete her bachelor’s degree in civil law in April 2024.
Before starting her law studies, Yuan was awarded an undergraduate honors degree in psychology and international development from McGill University. She has led a number of projects pertaining to women’s rights at an NGO funded by the UN. Her passion for intercultural exploration led to a two-year term as an ambassador for a program designed to foster international exchanges with Japan. In addition to her law studies, she also works at the Direction générale de l'indemnisation des victimesd’actescriminels (DGIVAC).

Social engagement is very important to her, and she serves at a number of organizations, including the Asian North American Youth Association (ANAYA) and the Club des étudiant(e)s asiatiques droit civil d'Ottawa (CEADCO). At the faculty, she volunteers for the Pro Bono Students Canada chapter, and she has represented her faculty at the Pierre-Basil-Mignault moot court competition in civil law. Her community involvement and her academic excellence have earned her numerous scholarships and awards, including a Parcours de vie exceptionnelle scholarship as well as the Norman E. Hébert scholarship.

In her spare time, Yuan likes to draw, listen to music, play the koto, do yoga, skate and run.
