Somaya is in her third year of B.C.L./J.D. as a McCall McBain Scholar at McGill’s Faculty of Law. Although she considers herself a Vancouverite at heart, she moved to Montreal to obtain an Honours B.A. in Political Science with a minor in French. Somaya has had a very diverse work experience. Her last jobs included working for Canadian National Railways, the Federal Government, and a Human Rights organization in Uganda.

As a law student, Somaya serves as the Co-President of the McGill Business Law Association and a Member of the Women of Colour Collective. In these roles, she collaborates with her peers to provide mentorship and learning opportunities for law students. Additionally, Somaya is currently representing McGill Law in the Vis International Commercial Arbitration Moot, gaining valuable insights into intricate cross-border commercial disputes. With these experiences, she is eager to practice business law.

Somaya’s main hobbies include travelling, Pilates, swimming, and hosting friends.
