Law School

McGill University

Shona graduated from McGill University’s Faculty of Law, obtaining dual Juris Doctor (J.D.) and Bachelor of Civil Law (B.C.L.) degrees. Actively involved in the McGill community, Shona served as the Vice President Internal of the Black Law Students Association and was a volunteer for the L.E.X. program. As a L.E.X. volunteer, she provided legal workshops to high school students from underrepresented backgrounds with the long-term goal of encouraging these students to consider law school. While at Mcgill, she was interested in oral advocacy and was selected to compete in the Julius Alexander Moot, where she and her partner placed 1st. She was also awarded Top Oralist of the Moot in 2022.

Before law school, she completed a B.A. in International Development with a minor in African studies at McGill University. Her concern for creating community in the African diaspora led her to co-found Sayaspora, a non-profit organization for African youth and women.

In her spare time, Shona enjoys travelling, cooking, and reading. She hopes to one day travel to at least 15 African countries.
