Meaza recently graduated from the University of Toronto Faculty of Law as Valedictorian of the Class of 2023. Prior to law school, Meaza obtained an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with a Minor in Law and Society from the University of Calgary. She completed a semester abroad at the National University of Singapore before returning to finish her last year. Her thesis, Dependence over Interdependence: the Belt and Road Initiatives’ Impact on Development in Ethiopia, focused on a relatively novel area of international relations and political economy.

While completing her undergraduate degree, Meaza co-founded Uplyft Youth Society for Domestic Abuse Awareness. Uplyft was a non-profit organization that delivered workshops to youth in partnership with over 50 schools and community groups in Calgary prior to the pandemic.

In law school, Meaza was a vocal advocate for her fellow students. She was the President of the Students’ Law Society, the recipient of the University of Toronto Leadership Award as well as the John Willis & Gina Caldarelli Memorial Prize for School Spirit.

Before coming to McCarthy’s as a summer student, Meaza worked at Justice for Children and Youth. In addition to creating public legal education materials for the Ministry of Education, Meaza worked on the constitutional challenge to the minimum voting age in Canada.

In her spare time, you can find Meaza outside with her dog, Milk.
