Laura Millman is Director, Professional Resources (National). In that capacity, she leads the Learning and Development for the firm’s lawyers and paraprofessionals with a national team of education specialists who build and deliver curriculum in legal knowledge, practice skills and leadership. She supports the implementation of the national summer, articling and first year associate orientation programs and assists in key DEI student-related initiatives. Laura develops and executes the continuing professional development strategy to ensure alignment with the firm’s overall strategic goals, working in collaboration with her Professional Resources colleagues and other leaders across the functional groups of the firm to ensure a holistic approach to lawyer development.

Prior to stepping into this role, Laura held the role of Director, Professional Resources (Alberta and British Columbia) responsible for all aspects of the student program and the professional development and performance management of junior associates for the Calgary and Vancouver offices. Before joining McCarthy Tétrault, Laura practiced as a medical malpractice lawyer at a national firm in England.  She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Victoria before obtaining a Masters from the University of Leeds and her law qualifications from the University of Exeter.  She was admitted to the roll of solicitors in England and Wales in 2008.
