Known for her highly personable and practical approach, Alison offers creative and tax-efficient advice on a wide range of trust and estate matters

Alison Minard is a partner in our Tax Group in Toronto. Her practice encompasses all areas of trust and estate planning and administration.

With a proven ability to advise individual and corporate clients on a wide range of Canadian and international trust and estate planning matters, Alison provides thoughtful and creative advice to clients. She prepares sophisticated estate planning documents such as domestic and cross-border wills, trusts and powers of attorney.

Alison also advises clients on a variety of issues pertaining to trust and estate administration and post-mortem planning.  She acts for Canadian and foreign trustees, executors, estate beneficiaries, and attorneys for property and personal care on a variety of contentious and non-contentious issues.  She also assists with will and trust interpretations, trust variations, and the passing of fiduciary accounts.

Having advised financial institutions in a previous role on issues pertaining to the administration of estate assets, registered and non-registered accounts, and issues relating to powers of attorney and capacity matters, Alison brings the skills and experience acquired during that period to her estate and trust practice.

Alison is a frequent writer and speaker on a variety of topics relating to trust and estate planning and estate administration, and has written and co-authored articles and chapters for Estates Trusts & Pensions Journal, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Financial & Estate Planning for the Mature Client in Ontario (Butterworths).

Alison earned her LLB (Cum Laude) in 2008 from the University of Ottawa.  Prior to this, she earned a BA (with Distinction) from Dalhousie University.  Alison was called to the Ontario Bar in 2009 and is a member of the Law Society of Ontario, the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association and the Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners (STEP).
