Keiretsu Angel Capital Expo

Office

Toronto

Date

June 14, 2018

Time of event

full-day

On Thursday June 14th, members of McCarthy Tétrault participated in the Keiretsu Forum’s, ‘Angel Capital Expo’ where venture capital firms, angel investors, and government organizations heard from some of Canada’s fastest growing early-stage companies (i.e. start-ups).

Start-ups represent an increasingly important and dynamic segment of the Canadian economy, with the successes of Hootsuite, Shopify, Ritual, and Hopper encouraging entrepreneurs to capitalize on the nine-figure amounts provided to entities that disrupt traditional business arrangements, capitalize on shifting technological capabilities, and benefit from lagging government legislation.

In recognizing that these companies require technical, managerial, and legal expertise in addition to monetary resources, McCarthy’s is able to assist these early-stage companies by leveraging their national platform of legal professionals, extensive client networks, and strategic industry partnerships. At yesterday’s event, members of the firm were able to connect with award-winning alcohol-free, cannabis-infused beverage companies, specialty-alternative healthcare providers, and industrial-grade haptic technology manufacturers to discuss their ideas and find ways to grow their network and resources using the McCarthy Tétrault platform.
