Some projects, particularly those that can have an impact on the environment and on the quality of life of citizens, could be subject to the provincial and, in some cases, the federal environmental assessment process.

Our speakers discussed Québec's environmental assessment process which could be applicable to such projects and the important role that the BAPE can play in clarifying the government's decision-making process from a sustainable development standpoint.

They also discussed the federal environmental assessment process which was substantially modified since the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act (2012) came into force on July 6, 2012.
