Biography

Maryanna is a student at the Peter A. Allard School of Law at UBC. Prior to attending law school, Maryanna received a Bachelor of Social Sciences (Honours) from the University of Ottawa. During her undergrad, she also went on an international exchange abroad for one academic year at the National University of Singapore.

As a law student at UBC, Maryanna was a Student Clinician with the Law Students’ Legal Advice Program and a Student Advocate at the Atira Legal Advocacy Program. She was also the President of the Asia Pacific Law Club (APLC). Maryanna participated in the 2017 Winter clinical term at the Rise Women’s Legal Centre where she provided legal advice and unbundled legal services to low income women with a focus on family law matters. She also researched, developed, and presented workshops for self-represented litigants in the area of family law in cooperation with the Community Legal Assistance Society (CLAS) and Vancouver and Lower Mainland Multicultural Family Support Services (VLMFSS). In recognition of her academic excellence and contribution to the community, Maryanna was awarded the DLA Piper (Canada) LLP Prize in Torts and the Law Foundation of British Columbia Public Interest Award. After law school, Maryanna will be clerking at the Supreme Court of British Columbia.

Outside the office, Maryanna enjoys running, hiking, playing volleyball, and reading dystopian fiction.
