Alyssa was born and raised in Vancouver, and received a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from the University of British Columbia. Specializing in Accounting, she received multiple awards, including those from the Institute of Chartered Accountants of BC and Certified General Accountants Association of BC. During her undergraduate degree, she also worked as a course coordinator for UBC Go Global and the Department of History, taking students to Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong and China.
As a law student at UBC, Alyssa was a Peer Ambassador, a Peer Tutor, and the President of the Asia Pacific Law Club (APLC). She also served as an Academic Director on the Allard Law Student’s Society, worked as a Research Assistant, participated in the 2016 Gale Cup Moot in Toronto and worked a student clinician at Rise Women’s Legal Centre. In recognition of academic excellence and her contributions to the school, she received multiple awards, including the Ray Herbert Award, awarded to the best all-round graduating student. She was also nominated for a YWCA Metro Vancouver, Women of Distinction Award in the Young Women of Distinction category. After articling, Alyssa will be clerking at the British Columbia Court of Appeal.
Outside the office, Alyssa enjoys running, golfing, skiing, practicing yoga and taking her dogs to the park.
