Barbara Wang was born in China and grew up in Vancouver. Prior to law school, she received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of British Columbia. During her undergraduate degree, she volunteered as a mental health advocate and worked at the North Shore Multicultural Society to help immigrants and refugees adjust to life in Canada.
As a law student at the Peter A. Allard School of Law, Barbara is active in the law school community. In her first year, she placed first in the local division of the American Bar Association’s Negotiation Competition and went on to represent UBC at the regional level. She continued to explore her interest in advocacy by mooting in 2L, where she and her fellow teammates won the BC Law Schools Moot. Barbara was also a Peer Tutor, a volunteer for Pro Bono Students Canada, the Law Student Legal Advice Program, and the president of the UBC chapter of the Student Animal Legal Defense Fund.
In her spare time, Barbara enjoys watching movies, going for hikes and trying new recipes.
