Mel is a graduate from the University of Alberta’s Faculty of Law. Prior to attending law school, Mel obtained her Master of Arts and Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of British Columbia. She received several academic awards while pursuing her graduate studies, including the Faculty of Arts Graduate Award and Graduate Research Travel Fellowship. Throughout her undergraduate and graduate studies, Mel worked in community outreach, running not-for-profit day camps and afterschool programs for low-income families throughout the Lower Mainland.
While attending law school, Mel served on the Editorial Board of the Alberta Law Review, worked as a Research Assistant, and volunteered with Student Legal Services. Mel was also the recipient of a number of academic awards in the Faculty of Law, including the Roger S. Smith Research Award and the Anthony Cairo Memorial Prize in Professional Responsibility.
Outside of the office, Mel enjoys cooking, hiking, reading, and travel.
