Top 100 Employers: 4th consecutive recognition for McCarthy Tétrault

Date

November 9, 2015

Toronto, November 9, 2015 — McCarthy Tétrault is very pleased to announce that, for the fourth consecutive year, the firm has been selected as one of Canada’s Top 100 Employers. Now in its 16th year, the annual competition – the largest project of its kind in Canada – aims to identify organizations that lead their industries in HR practices and to recognize the nation’s best places to work.

In the last 10 years, the entire professional services industry – including the legal industry – has seen unprecedented change and has had to adapt to an increasingly competitive market. In such a context, remaining an industry leader can be challenging. True to the firm’s history and values, McCarthy Tétrault stayed the course on the innovation path by continuing to improve the programs, practices and initiatives that allow the firm to support its people, and developing the innovative legal solutions that allow the firm to address its clients’ evolving needs and provide them with a better experience.

"We are very proud that the Top 100 recognizes our great programs and initiatives," said Paul Boniferro, National Leader, Practices and People. "However, our focus remains on being recognized as a stronger, better firm by our clients and as a stronger, better employer by our people."

"Our firm’s culture emphasizes learning, innovation, continuous improvement, personal well-being, diversity and caring for the community", adds Tracie Crook, Chief Operating Officer. "Our commitment to live up to our core values can only be successful if our values become part of our practices. So our commitment to our people is to continue to improve the firm’s programs and practices to earn the Top 100 distinction every day."

This year, the competition examined the recruitment histories of more than 75,000 employers across Canada and then invited 12,500 of those to apply. Employers completed an extensive application process that includes a detailed review of their operations and HR practices. To identify the most progressive and forward-thinking organizations, an academic Advisory Board drawn from universities across Canada used eight selection criteria:

  • Physical Workplace
  • Work Atmosphere and Social
  • Health, Financial and Family Benefits
  • Vacation and Time Off
  • Employee Communications
  • Performance Management
  • Training and Skills Development
  • Community Involvement

Canada’s Top 100 Employers is published by Mediacorp Canada, the country’s largest publisher of employment periodicals, directories and guides. Top 100 winners are announced in a special feature published in The Globe and Mail. For more information on Canada’s Top 100 Employers, see www.CanadasTop100.com.
