Toronto, February 2, 2015 — McCarthy Tétrault is pleased to announce the first edition of the User’s Guide to Canadian Copyright Tariffs, authored by Grant Buchanan, Daniel Glover, Peter Grant and Keith Rose. This book provides an annotated guide to Canadian copyright tariffs relating to the use of music, the reproduction of literary works, media monitoring, private copying, and the retransmission of distant radio and television signals, as of January 1, 2015. The 350-page handbook also includes an introductory note on the mandate of the Copyright Board of Canada, a list of Canadian collective societies and a table of royalties collected under the certified tariffs. The new handbook was officially launched at the Digital Media at the Crossroads (“[email protected]”) conference held at the University of Toronto on January 24, 2015. The conference was sponsored by 16 universities and not-for-profit institutions and attracted 175 registrants. The User’s Guide to Canadian Copyright Tariffs handbook joins five other handbooks on communications law and policy that have been prepared by lawyers in the firm’s Technology & Communications Group.
