Montréal, April 9, 2008 − Lawyers William J. Atkinson and Michel Deschamps have been chosen by the Québec Bar to receive the honorary title Avocat émérite. The awards ceremony will be held in Québec City on May 29 during the Bar’s annual meeting.
The honorary title Avocat émérite was created in 2007 to recognize the careers of members who have distinguished themselves by their professional excellence, their sustained and outstanding contribution to the profession, and their exceptional impact. This prestigious designation also aims to promote the image of the legal profession by honouring its most deserving members.
"McCarthy Tétrault is privileged to have among its ranks lawyers who bring honour to both our firm and our profession — great lawyers such as Bill Atkinson and Michel Deschamps," said Marc-André Blanchard, McCarthy Tétrault Managing Partner for the Québec Region. "Bill and Michel have distinguished themselves throughout their careers by their efforts, their talent and their passion for the profession. I am very proud to work with them. This honour could not have been bestowed on more worthy recipients."
