Jeffrey Derman is counsel in our Real Property and Planning Group in Toronto. He focuses his practice on the procurement and delivery of major infrastructure and commercial projects.

Prior to joining the firm, Jeffrey provided in-house legal counsel to a global provider of customized business aviation support services based in Montreal. Prior to this, he practiced as an attorney at a boutique law firm in New York City where he represented developers and tax credit syndicators in the development and operation of affordable housing and mixed-use projects in New York City under Federal, State and City programs. For several years prior to this, Jeffrey worked as Legal Counsel at the Department of Justice in Ottawa where he advised the Minister of Foreign Affairs on the acquisition, sale, lease and disposition of Canada’s diplomatic real estate holdings around the world. He is also the chair of the Canadian Comparative Air Law Subcommittee at the New York City Bar.

Jeffrey received his BA from McGill in 2001, his MA from the University of Toronto in 2003, his BCL and LLB from McGill in 2007 and LLM from Columbia University in 2013. He was called to the Quebec bar in 2008, to the New York bar in 2013, and to the Ontario bar in 2017.
