Elsbeth Cochrane is an associate in our Litigation Group in Calgary. She maintains a general corporate commercial litigation practice which includes contractual disputes and product liability. Prior to completing her articles at McCarthy Tétrault, Elsbeth articled at the Calgary Court of Appeal and gained experience in a variety of legal areas, including corporate disputes, labour and employment, administrative matters, criminal, and family law. She maintains a continued interest in appellate law.
Elsbeth volunteers with the Queen’s Bench Amicus Project and Civil Claims Duty Counsel which assist self-represented litigants with their civil claims in court.
Elsbeth obtained her JD from the University of Alberta in 2016. While at law school Elsbeth volunteered with Student Legal Services and various Pro Bono Students Canada initiatives. She was also a board member of the Alberta Law Review. Prior to law school, Elsbeth obtained a BA from the University of British Columbia in 2010 and an MA from the University of York in the United Kingdom in 2013. She is a member of the Law Society of the Alberta and the Calgary Bar Association.
