Biography

Patrick Pengelly is an associate in our Labour & Employment Group in Toronto.

Mr. Pengelly represents clients in a variety of labour and employment issues including employment standards, wrongful dismissals, human rights, occupational health and safety, labour arbitrations, and employment issues arising in corporate transactions.

Mr. Pengelly received his BA (Hons.) in Political Studies from Queen’s University in 2004, and a JD from Queen’s University in 2012. As a law student, he was awarded the Fasken Martineau Dumoulin LLP Prize In Torts and the Osgoode Society for Canadian Legal History Book Prize. Mr. Pengelly also served as Articles Editor of the Queen’s Law Journal.

Mr. Pengelly joined McCarthy Tétrault from a Toronto law firm specializing in Canadian Employment Law, where he contributed to a text for lawyers on just cause for dismissal in Canada. Prior to becoming a lawyer, Mr. Pengelly toured extensively around the world as the drummer and co-founder of a Juno Award-winning band.

Mr. Pengelly was called to the Ontario bar in 2013. He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association, and the Ontario Bar Association.
