Ben Layton is an associate in our Business Law Group in Calgary. He maintains a general corporate practice which includes corporate finance and mergers and acquisitions.
Ben has experience advising clients, including domestic and international oil and gas exploration and production companies, as well as underwriters, with respect to a range of transactions, such as private and public offerings, asset and share transactions and corporate creation and organization. He also works with companies to ensure compliance with general corporate and securities law requirements.
While in law school, Ben was awarded the Professor Jim Ellis Memorial Prize in International Business and Trade Law for receiving the highest mark in the International Trade Law course. He received his BA (First-Class Honours) in History from the University of Calgary in 2012 and his JD from the University of Victoria in 2015. He was called to the Alberta bar in 2016 and is a member of the Law Society of Alberta, the Canadian Bar Association and the Calgary Bar Association.
