Christine Wadsworth is an associate in our Litigation Group in Toronto. She maintains a broad litigation practice with an emphasis on commercial litigation, professional liability, criminal law and appellate advocacy. 

Christine has appeared before all levels of court in Ontario, including the Court of Appeal. She has appeared before tribunals including the Competition Tribunal, the Discipline Committee of the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario, the Health Professions Appeal and Review Board, and the Consent and Capacity Board. She regularly acts as a Prosecutor before the Ontario College of Teachers’ Discipline Committee and Fitness to Practise Committee.

Christine serves as co-director of McCarthy Tétrault’s pro bono criminal defence program in partnership with the University of Toronto’s community legal clinic Downtown Legal Services. This program provides pro bono representation on criminal trials and appeals.

Prior to joining McCarthy Tétrault, she was a consultant for a defence team at the Special Tribunal for Lebanon in The Hague and interned in Judges Chambers at the International Criminal Tribunal for Rwanda.

Christine received her Bachelor of Arts (Honours) with Distinction in Political Studies from Queen's University. At Queen's, she was a Loran Scholar and a recipient of the Chancellor's Scholarship. She received her JD from the University of Toronto and participated in an exchange to the University of Amsterdam. While in law school, she was an active member of the competitive mooting program, winning Top Oralist at the 2011 Cassels Brock Cup and the second place team award at the 2012 Gale Cup Moot. She has also competed in five debating World Championships.

Christine was called to the Ontario Bar in 2014. She is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, the Advocates’ Society and the Criminal Lawyers’ Association.
