Stephanie Sugar is an associate in our Litigation Group in Toronto. She maintains a general litigation practice, which includes commercial litigation and professional regulatory matters.
Stephanie received her JD from the University of Western Ontario in 2012, and an LLM in 2016. Her graduate work focused on the developing tension between class actions law and private law theory, and the interaction between law and policy. She maintains a particular interest in the areas of class actions and franchise law.
In practice, Stephanie has experience working on complex class actions cases, and has worked on cases decided by all levels of Ontario courts. Stephanie is also involved with professional regulation and discipline matters.
While attending law school, Stephanie served as President of Western Law’s Student Legal Society. For her contributions to the law school community, and achievements in academics, she received the Malcolm J. McKinnon Award, the McCarthy Tétrault Leadership Award, the Dr. Allison H. Johnson Prize in Jurisprudence, the Michael Allen Harte Award, and the Dean Ivan C. Rand Honour Society Award.
Stephanie was called to the Ontario bar in 2013. She is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association, the Ontario Bar Association, and the Advocate’s Society.
