D.J. Lynde is an associate in our Business Law Group in Toronto. His practice focuses on banking, secured lending, private equity, securitization and structured finance transactions.
Mr. Lynde acts for Canadian and international banks, financial institutions and borrowers in connection with lending transactions, including syndicated financings, senior and mezzanine loans, asset-based loans, project finance, acquisition financings, restructurings and multi-jurisdictional and cross-border transactions.
He also has experience acting for issuers, sellers, underwriters, trustees and credit enhancers in various public and private securitization and structured finance transactions involving a variety of asset classes, including consumer receivables, lease receivables, installment sales contracts, credit card receivables, residential and commercial mortgages, home equity lines of credit and trade receivables. He also has experience acting for issuers and underwriters in connection with prospectus offerings, private placements, medium term notes and commercial paper programs.
Mr. Lynde obtained his LLM in Business Law from Osgoode Hall Law School in 2015. Mr. Lynde also received his LLB from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law in 2010. While at the University of Alberta, Mr. Lynde was awarded the Bryan & Company Student Leadership Award in 2010 and the McCarthy Tétrault Leadership Award in 2008 and 2009. During his legal studies, Mr. Lynde was an editor for the Alberta Law Review, Canons of Construction and Review of Constitutional Studies, as well as serving as President of the Law Students’ Association. During 2009-2010, Mr. Lynde clerked with the Alberta Provincial Court.
He also obtained his Bachelor of Arts (Hons.) in Political Science and History from the University of Western Ontario (UWO) in 2007, graduating with distinction and receiving the UWO Gold Medal. During his undergraduate studies, Mr. Lynde founded The Social Contract, UWO’s first undergraduate political science journal and acted as its inaugural editor-in-chief in 2005-2006.
Mr. Lynde was called to the Ontario bar in 2011. He is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Ontario Bar Association and the Canadian Bar Association. Mr. Lynde is a past chair of the Governance Committee for the Crescent School Alumni Executive.
