Making a Difference Together
At Work in Canadian Communities
One of the most significant ways McCarthy Tétrault contributes to Canadian communities is through the McCarthy Tétrault Foundation, a firm-wide organization with regional representation governed by a Board of Directors. We created the Foundation — a first among Canadian law firms — in 1997 to foster our charitable giving and sponsorships on a firm-wide level.
The goals of the Foundation are:- to deliver on the firm’s obligations as a major entity in the Canadian legal and economic landscape;
- to give back to the communities in which the partners and employees of the firm reside and work; and
- to recognize in particular the significant contribution that law schools in Canada have made to allow the firm to enjoy the success it has achieved, and to do so in a way that supports our recruitment efforts to attract the best and brightest students to join the firm.
In 2007, the Foundation contributed funds to over 150 Canadian organizations and institutions, including hospitals, local charities, food banks, youth and cultural programs, arts organizations and law schools. The Foundation annually dedicates significant funds to law schools across Canada, a portion of which goes to the McCarthy Tétrault Leadership Awards.
