Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Regulation in British Columbia

McCarthy Tétrault is pleased to release Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) Regulation in British Columbia 2017, a publication examining the current policy and regulatory framework for the development of LNG projects in British Columbia.

In an increasingly competitive global market for natural gas, the race to export LNG to Asia is on, with the LNG industry in B.C. attracting significant interest from investors as an economically feasible venture. However, as LNG project proponents are discovering, there are many layers of policy and regulation underlying the development of the LNG industry, which require project proponents to interact with federal and provincial authorities and First Nations. This publication provides an overview of the regulatory and permitting framework for the construction and operation of wells, pipelines, processing facilities and LNG facilities, as well as examining First Nations issues.
